3. The Brokenwood Mysteries

The Brokenwood Mysteries is a New Zealand crime series that has been running since 2014, following Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd as he investigates murders in a small country town where nothing stays quiet for long. Season twelve opens with a dead chef, a crop circle, and locals floating alien abduction theories. Episodes run around 90 to 104 minutes, making each one closer to a feature film than a standard TV hour. The series moved to Acorn TV with season seven and has been there since.
