What’s New on TV This Week (May 31–June 6, 2026): Cape Fear, The Witness & More

A new thriller about Anna and Tom Bowden, two married attorneys whose comfortable, settled life starts to come apart when Max Cady walks out of prison. The Bowdens had a hand in putting Cady away, and he comes out the other side fixed on revenge against the family he blames. The premiere lays out the household before the threat reaches it: the marriage, the work, the ordinary routine that Cady is about to pull apart. From there the show turns into a slow squeeze, with Cady circling the family and the Bowdens learning how little the law can do to keep him at a distance.

A comedy about five work-obsessed twenty-somethings chasing professional success in Manhattan, with personal happiness slotted in only when there is time for it. They live in Murray Hill, and the setup is an old sitcom shape: two women in one apartment, three men across the hall, and all the running back and forth that follows. The premiere introduces the five of them and the jobs they are knocking themselves out for, then leans into the friction and flirting between the two apartments. It is built around career ambition first, and the messy personal lives that ambition keeps interrupting.

A scripted drama built around the real story of André Hanscombe and his young son Alex. After Alex’s mother, Rachel Nickell, is murdered on Wimbledon Common in 1992, André is left to raise Alex alone, carrying the added weight that the boy was the only witness to the attack. The series follows him trying to shield his son from a frantic police investigation and a loud, intrusive press while holding his own grief at arm’s length. It works through the long stretch of life after the killing rather than the crime itself.

The variety competition returns for a 21st season, still open to acts of any age and any kind: singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, and stranger acts, all chasing a $1 million prize. The premiere leans on the Golden Buzzer, and the show says it hands out more of them this night than in any past episode, with a lineup that includes two non-human dance crews and a crossbow stunt duo.

The adult animated fantasy returns for a fourth season with Vox Machina, a rowdy band of mercenaries working their way across the realm of Exandria. What started as a scramble to clear a bar tab pulled them into much larger fights against necromancers and curses, and the new season picks the crew back up in the middle of those bigger threats.

Jeremy Clarkson is back for a fifth season at Diddly Squat Farm, still learning the job mostly by getting it wrong. The series follows the real work of the farm and its shop across a year of weather, livestock, crops, and the paperwork that comes with all of it, while the people who actually know what they are doing keep the place running.
