Set on the South Side of Chicago, The Chi follows a web of neighbors whose lives keep crossing through chance, loss, and the pull toward something better. The eighth season continues with “When Truth Thaws,” moving its long-running threads of family and community forward another step. It’s an ensemble drama that has grown its cast and its scope over the years, and this deep into the run it leans on the relationships it has built. Worth keeping up with if you’re already invested in Emmett, Kevin, and the block around them.

Tyler Perry’s White House soap splits its time between a family installed in the residence by powerful backers and the staff who keep the place running. “Upon Which We Stand” sets Eli and Simone against Hunter and Victoria as the show’s tangle of power plays and personal grudges tightens. Seven seasons in, it runs on twists, betrayals, and high melodrama rather than restraint, and it knows exactly what it is. Easy, propulsive watching if you want a serial to get swept up in.

Based on the video game, this animated comedy puts a crew of little monochrome astronauts on a junk-hauling ship with a killer hidden among them. “A Pizza Party Where Nothing Bad Happens” sends two newcomers on a tour of The Skeld right before everything goes wrong, with the title doing the heavy lifting on irony. It keeps the game’s paranoid betrayal premise but plays it for jokes. Short, light episodes, and the first season is rolling out now.
